As every gym and fitness studio remains closed to help fight the spread of COVID-19, you may be wondering how to maintain your regular level of physical activity.

It is essential to add at least 30 to 45 minutes of physical activity into your daily routine. You don’t need a gym to have an effective workout. There are plenty of at-home workouts that can get your blood pumping and help you reach your weight loss goals.

Yoga

Yoga is a great practice to slowly get the body moving into a smooth flow after sitting around all day. Yoga can increase your flexibility and muscle strength, improve your energy, and give you mind-body awareness. Check out this popular YouTuber who offers free yoga on her channel.

Run or walk outside

Being outside in the fresh air is a great stress reliever. Use this time outside to go for a jog or walk for 30 minutes. Cardio is a great way to lose weight, strengthen the heart, lungs and improve your overall mood.

HIIT (High-intensity interval training)

HIIT workouts involve a short, high-intensity workout with quick resting periods. The purpose of this workout is to get your heart rate up in a short amount of time to quickly burn energy, which helps you burn more fat and calories throughout the day. Try being creative and searching for objects around your house to use for some extra weight in your exercises. A few examples are a gallon of water, backpack full of books, canned goods or laundry detergent.
