What is Kybella®?
Kybella is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment for the reduction of submental fullness, or double chin, in men and women. Its active ingredient is a man-made formulation of deoxycholic acid, a compound that occurs naturally in the human body. The function of deoxycholic acid is to absorb and eliminate fat cells. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, Kybella destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin.

What results can I expect from Kybella®?
Results from Kybella are not immediate. The process is gradual because Kybella works by breaking down fat cells, which are then naturally eliminated by the body over time. This gradual reduction allows the skin to adjust and tighten, enhancing the overall contour of the treated area.
Typically, multiple treatment sessions are required and spaced at least 4 to 6 weeks apart. Most patients experience visible results after 2 to 4 treatments, although some may require up to 6 sessions.
Since Kybella destroys fat cells, the results are long-lasting, provided the patient maintains a stable weight. Once the desired aesthetic is achieved, further treatments are not usually necessary.
