What is Botox®?
Botox is a neurotoxin derived from the botulinum toxin type A that reduces the appearance of wrinkles and deep lines, like those that appear in between the brows and around the eyes. It works by blocking the release of a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine, which prevents muscles from contracting. When injected in small amounts, it can effectively smooth out wrinkles, frown lines, and crow’s feet. While results are significant, it will not radically change your facial appearance. The muscles are simply relaxed, so you can still frown, smile, or look surprised without the wrinkles and creases. Injecting Botox into targeted facial muscles can minimize even the most stubborn of wrinkles, leaving the skin looking smoother and more youthful.

What results can I expect from Botox®?
Results from Botox are often noticeable within a few days. While the full results typically become more pronounced within a couple of weeks. This means that you can enjoy the rejuvenating effects of Botox shortly after your treatment.
Botox typically lasts for 3 to 6 months, depending on individual responses. Patients are able to maintain their desired results by undergoing periodic maintenance treatments.
What is it like to get a Botox® treatment?
Prior to your Botox treatment, the treatment area will be cleaned with an antiseptic skin cleaner before an ultra-fine needle is used to inject a precise amount of product strategically into the targeted areas. To reduce discomfort, numbing agents may be applied to the treatment area. The treatment typically takes about 15 to 30 minutes. Some patients may experience a feeling of swelling or heaviness in the treatment areas, mild headache, swelling, redness or bruising, but these effects generally subside within a few days.
